Keep a bit of local history…

Friends, as many of you are aware, construction on the Fincastle Courthouse is in its early stages; part of the initial preparation for the Courthouse Square renovation, is to relocate the original museum building. The museum’s first home consists of the original Breckinridge Law Office that dates to the 1790s, and later, part of the Western Hotel complex. Floorboards that had to be taken up to prepare for the building’s move have been salvaged and local wood turner, Willie Simmons has created unique pieces from the wood! Small square dishes and round lidded bowls – each one unique with variations of coloring and imperfections, are now available for sale at the Botetourt County Historical Society and Museum; each engraved with Breckinridge Law Office 2023 on the bottom. Please visit our museum store page for more information!
